THE FEVER BAND: Bio

Jim Cavar - Lead Guitar, Vocals

In his early years, Jim started a "note reading, sit down orchestra", The Twilight Band. Years later he joined and recorded with Grey Controversy on Subtown Label.
Grey Controversy became house band for the legendary SHABOO night club in Mansfield Ct. , of which some members went on to form the Mohegan Sun Allstars. After Grey Controversy Jim joined The Truk Band, a funk rock group touring Canada, New England and New York state areas. Jim has also shared the stage with national acts such as blues guitarist Billy Caldwell of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Journey, Orleans and opened for Deodato who performed the sound track for the movie 2001. Jim has continued to perform with Ct based country, blues, and rock bands, including The String Fever Band whose single had frequent airplay on local country radio.
Jim now also has an impressive array of guitar students, teaching both in his own studio as well as a local music store.

John Fanelli - Bass, Vocals

Inspired by his jazz musician father, John performed at parties and block parties in a number of Junior High and High School bands in the Hartford area (The Pagans, The Hiram Walkers). He later moved to the quiet corner of Ct. where he honed his improvisational skills with a number of talented local musicians. In the early 80's he joined the ever popular String Fever Band. With them he wrote and recorded the single "I Know We'd Be Famous (If We Could Only Get To Town)" a song based on the vehicular hardships of the band which received a lot of local air time. Over the years as members moved on, the String Fever Band went more Blues and Rock evolving into what is now The Fever Band.

Betty Berger Hockla - Vocals, Harp, Guitar

As one of the original members of the Fever Band, Betty came to the Storrs, Ct. area in 1973 where she began performing solo and with other musicians in local clubs and coffee houses. In the 80's she sang with two rock and blues bands, Union St and Century. Beginning in the 90's, along with playing with the Fever Band, she also played acoustic guitar and sang with the christian band Called Upon Us through a prison ministry and in small concert settings. In early 2000, along with Jess Hockla and Tara Bergeron, the acoustic folk/rock/blues group called The Humans was formed playing local coffee houses and opening for the Fever Band on several occasions.
